Viva Las Vegas!
By Michelle | October 6, 2008
We had a WONDERFUL time living it up in Las Vegas! Jeff and I have not been there together for 7 years, so we enjoyed taking the girls up to the strip and checking out what had changed. We also got to do a “date night” to celebrate 10 years of marriage!! We had a wonderful steak dinner, and saw Penn & Teller…which was awesome! It was also very nice to just chat…not about thyroids, not about treatments past or upcoming, but just about life and dreams for the next ten years. Definitely refreshing to say the least! We swam every single day and by the end of the week, Sammy Jane was jumping off the side into our arms and literally trying to swim to her big sissy. When asked what her favorite part of vacation was, of course Sarah Jo said “swwwiiiiimmmminnggg!!!”. Thanks to Kenton, Jeremy, and the puppies Taffy and Sunny for letting us invade their house everyday so that we could take a dip in our own little private pool. Other highlights included the fountains at the Bellagio, as well as the chocolate fountain inside the Bellagio that was a must see for Sarah Jo on this trip (we didn’t get to it last year and she remembered of course), Gregory Popovich’s Comedy Pet Theater at Planet Hollywood, the M&M Factory, and the carousel at the outlet malls just to name a few. When Jeff headed back to Seattle on Monday, sis and I went out for a “girls night” and saw Mama Mia, went to a great texmex dinner, did a little gambling, and rode the New York, New York roller coaster. She failed to tell me that it was a CRAZY SCARY roller coaster until after we got on and were going up stories and heading back down into barrel rolls and upside down twists. It was fun though and one thing the last year has taught me is that you only live once because I can assure you that 5 years ago I would have never, ever rode that thing. The good news is that it makes my fear of flying pretty much absent!! I also have to give a shout out to all the free babysitting we had while we were in Vegas…thanks to all…you know who you are!
The house is finally looking like a house again and not an explosion of suitcases…things will be back in order just in time for my hip surgery next Monday (October 13th). Hopefully the 13th will remain the lucky day that it has been for our family and everything will go as planned. I’m looking forward to getting it behind us and having some relief from the leg and low back pain!
This weekend we are off to the pumpkin patch to complete the Halloween decorations. Daddy, Sarah Jo, and Uncle Sam put up some fancy Halloween lights this weekend and it is looking pretty spooky around here.
The rain has arrived…and the wind too…it could be an interesting winter, but lately I kind of enjoy the wind storms more and more…weird I know….as long as the electricity doesn’t go out.
