New Year’s Resolutions, turning 36, and back to school…
By Michelle | January 5, 2009
As my many previous posts revealed, we did have a white Christmas here in Seattle…it was GREAT!!! We were actually snowed in for over a week, but with Jeff’s excellent driving skills and our very sturdy Highlander, we were able to make it where we needed to go. We all had a wonderful Christmas, a quiet New Year, a family party that turned into a family Wii party for my 36th, and a hard Monday morning heading back to school today. It was snowing buckets last night, but my mom insisted that she needed to get back to school and so did Sarah Jo and by morning, all the snow was getting melted by rain…oh mom!! I guess it was fun while it lasted and I’m still praying for more snow this year…a little white stuff never hurt anybody!
This week is a busy one, getting back into the swing of things, and also attending birthday parties for two of Sarah Jo’s classmates. The good news is that Sarah Jo kept telling us last night that she wanted it to stop snowing so that she could go to school and see her friends and her teachers…awwwhhh…the great days of preschool (and hopefully many more years) when you actually want to go to school!
We are trying to wean Sarah Jo off her afternoon nap so that bedtime is not such a challenge….the last few days have been OK, but it can get a little hairy when she gets too tired. I definitely hit a wall around 5pm, the witching hour, right before daddy gets home, but hopefully I will just be able to push through until an early bedtime. We have almost all the Christmas lights down, so sad, I really enjoyed the holidays this year, most likely because I have a new appreciation for them. Someone asked me if I was OK with turning 36 and I said, “hey, at least I’m a year older…the alternative is bad!”. Definitely a new way of looking at things, that’s for sure….that is what a year of bad health does…makes you appreciate the little things!
So that leads into my simple New Year’s resolution…have a healthy 2009…I hope that goes for everyone out there!
Sammy Jane has her 18 month check up (yes she is 19 months, but we were delayed getting in to see the doctor because of the snow) on Wednesday and I’ll be sure to post stats. We are working hard at getting her weaned off the bottle…not an easy task..and yes if you have seen recent pictures of her with a binkie…daddy gave her a dentist recommended flat one (right…dentist recommended) after I weaned her off of the bad round Soothie binkie from the hospital so that he could get some sleep….oh yeah…the next round is his fight!!
