Sneaky leprechauns and sick babies…

By Michelle | March 20, 2009

StPatsDayGirlsAll my babies are home today and not feeling well (including my big baby Jeff…heehee!). I had to take Sammy Jane to the doctor this morning, and the doctor concluded that her swollen eyes are most likely a viral infection…so you know the drill…not much you can do about it for 7 days. Lots of little ones have been sick at Sarah Jo’s school, so hopefully we will get through this next round of bugs and then be bug free until summer…we can only hope! Sammy’s weight today was 19lbs. 6oz., two oz. more than her 18 month appt a few months ago (she will be 22 months old on April 1st). She is just a tiny little peanut and the doctor did send me home with a list of high calorie foods to try out. Every bit counts for her and hopefully we can get her back on her 3% growth curve…she has fallen off the growth chart the last few visits. When I tell people how old she is, they often can’t believe it…in fact at the store the other day there was a baby there that was significantly bigger than her who was only 1 year old….it was pretty crazy to see!

Sarah Jo had a wonderful St. Pat’s day party in class yesterday and those sneaky little leprechauns visited her classroom during the night. In the parking lot after school, she took her gold coin that the leprechauns left for her (aka chocolate), broke it in half and gave half to her sissy! She had told Samantha that she would share the coin with her when we were dropping her off that morning at class, but I wasn’t sure if her promise would hold true. My big girl kept her word and her little sister was overjoyed to say the least!

Note to self, St. Patrick’s Day is a “BIG” deal in the eyes of a 4 1/2 year old. Sarah Jo went looking for leprechaun tracks last night before dinner and low and behold she found some (I had the vacuum cleaner sitting in the upstairs hallway and did not get around to vacuuming until last night….who would have know the indentations that the vacuum left in the carpet looks just like leprechaun tracks??). After she found the tracks, she went running for Nana and Papa who were over for dinner. While Sarah Jo was tracking down Nana, that sneaky leprechaun (THANKS PAPA!!) left coins by Sarah Jo and Samantha Jane’s piggy bank. Both of the girls were beside themselves and cannot wait for those sneaky leprechauns to visit again next year. Hopefully, they will be a little more organized! StPatsDaySammy&Mommy
