Update….

First and foremost, thank you so much for all of your prayers, good thoughts, and emails these past few weeks. I made it once again through the low iodine diet and the daily appointments at Swedish last week. The meeting with the endocrinologist today did not go completely how we had hoped; we got both good and bad news. The good news is that my scan came back clean (meaning they did not find any cancer cells metastasized) and that my tumor maker went from being 47 last year to 4.7 this year. That means that the I-131 treatment that I received last year worked, BUT the doctor informed us today that the tumor marker needs to be below 2.
I’m taking the news pretty hard because this means that we will likely have to do another round of the I-131 treatment after being told that another round was “highly unlikely”. We are waiting to hear from the nuclear medicine doctors at Swedish who will consult with us to determine the protocol for the additional treatment.
If you could please continue to pray for our family over these upcoming months, we would really appreciate it. Pray especially for the girls who will need to be separated from me again during my isolation period and please pray for Jeff and I….honestly, I usually hold it together pretty darn well, but today has been a little difficult.
