Where did the time go????

By Michelle | September 16, 2009

How can it go from being August 31st to the 16th of September? No idea where the time is going or and no longer believe the people who told me that I would have so much free time on my hands because Sarah Jo is going to school all morning 5 days a week. I feel like we are busier than ever!!!! Of course I did decide that the play yard and anything and everything that could be stained outside needed to be stained. Oh yeah and Jeff and I are trying to decide on a new color for the house because we finally bit the bullet and are getting new siding, new pillars, and new paint. Even though it is costing a pretty penny, December 8th is our 10 year anniversary in this house and we do not plan on going anywhere anytime soon, so we decided to get ‘r done! I’m pretty sure that every new “gut” in this house has now been replaced including bathrooms, kitchen, water heater, furnace, roof, and now siding and paint. I’m hoping that the fun stuff is coming after this big project, like finishing off the laundry room downstairs and new carpet and inside paint. By the time that is all done, it will be time to redo the kitchen and master bath again….ahhh…the joys of home ownership, right? I like it though, not sure what I would do without a little project on the side.

Oh yes, did I mention that Sarah Jo is now on the Mini-Stars gymnastics team at the gym? There are five 5-year-olds, who get to practice with the best coach ever, Miss Kim, for 1.5 hours twice a week. After watching them for a week and a half, I’m convinced that Jeff and I need to somehow get on the Mini-Stars…we would definitely be “cut” by the end of the year. They do 10 pull-ups along with other very difficult conditioning exercises and are pooped by the time practice is over. I get tired just watching her. Of course at this age it is all about the leo…and they tried on their new team leo today, so once it comes in, I will be sure to post pictures. They will be doing little shows once a month around the area, so we’ll be sure to keep you updated. Sarah Jo tells everyone that she is on a team and LOVES it. She informs daddy and I that swimming is still her favorite thing to do though, and she will not give it up!!

Sammy Jane is talking up a storm and even did Sarah Jo’s homework with her today. I made a copy of Sarah Jo’s homework and I swear to you that Samantha Jane found the 14 animals in the picture and colored them just like her big sissy did. She’s a sharp one and I’m certain will continue to keep us on our toes. She started up music again with Mommy on Monday mornings and loves it. She sings all the time and loves to sit and entertain herself reading books. She plays much better by herself than Sarah Jo ever did and her little “determination and stubbornness” reminds me of me! It is nice to spend some quality time with her and I noticed that after Sarah Jo returns from school, the girls have genuinely missed each other and enjoy catching up and playing together.

I’m feeling really well and have not needed an afternoon nap since my second I-131 treatment in August. I’m hoping that means that they got everything and my body is trying to get back to normal. I’m down to a weekly visit to the anti-coagulation center at Evergreen and am still on Coumadin, but no longer need belly shots of Heparin. I go in for an ultrasound on my leg in early October and hope to be released from blood thinners. I’m keeping my fingers crossed! We got the results back from the whole body scan and after throwing a pity party for myself last week, I feel back on track with a better attitude. They found uptake only in the thyroid bed which is great news, but it would have been better news if they could not detect any uptake at all. We will not know exactly what it all means until I retest in the Spring, but basically since the amount of uptake was so small in the thyroid bed, they are not sure if the cells that are left are normal thyroid tissue or cancerous cells. As long as my tumor marker comes back under 2, we should be good to go, but I believe in miracles and the power of prayer, so I’m continuing to pray for a tumor marker of 0. God is in control, we are just along for the ride.

Thanks for your continued prayers, love, and support for our little family. In the “not so good moments” all of you continuely lift me up, thank you for that!!

Big hugs and Happy Fall!!
