Way too long since last blog…..

By Michelle | February 17, 2007

It has been way too long since the last time I blogged and since I’m already 25 weeks pregnant, I thought I better get on it since life is going to get a whole lot busier in just a few months.  May is approaching very quickly!  My pregnancy with Sarah Jo seemed to take forever….this pregnancy is just flying by…I think that is what happens when you have a 2 1/2 year old keeping you on your toes every day!  Since I blogged back in October, I’ve been sicker than a dog with "all day sickness", but the meds seem to be helping a lot more these days.  Don’t get me wrong, I will be happy the day after I deliver, it will be so nice not to feel nauseous…but…..we’ll be trading that in for lack of sleep!

Thanksgiving came and went, snow fell in early December which was so beautiful and fun for all of us, then the windstorm of ‘06 hit us hard the week before Christmas.  It packed hurricane force winds and knocked our power out for a week.  According to the power company we live in rural Redmond, who would have known??  :)   There was huge amounts of damage, no power in downtown Redmond, and people were scrambling for gas and supplies.  We were camping for a week between our house and my parents and Sarah Jo still talks about Papa using his hammer on the deck to "grind" coffee beans so we could have our "fix".  You know you are desperate when you have to hammer coffee beans because the only grinder you own is electric!  We all survived without killing each other and now know that we are going to need a lot more supplies if a major disaster happens (Jeff loves to remind me we do live in earthquake country and we are due!)  January brought another snow storm that shut everything down and almost stranded Jeff during his evening commute.  Luckily he made it home about 3 hours after he left work.  During both snow storms we played as much as we could with Sarah Jo in the snow, building snow angels, sledding, throwing snowballs, running after Sheridan, building a snowman, etc., because who knows when we will get snow like that again in Redmond…probably when she’s 10 or older!  It has definitely been a fun and exciting winter, but we are back to our normal rain!  Needless to say, I’m ready for spring!

Sarah Jo is doing great!  She is becoming much more independent in all her classes and continues to talk up a storm, pretty much in complete sentences now.  She constantly sings and we contribute that to music class, not any genes from Jeff and I.  She absolutely loves swimming lessons and now retrieves weighed toys from under water all by herself.  She thinks goggles are the coolest thing and we love to go under water and look at each other.  She really has no fear of the water (good and bad, but mostly good) and she constantly begs me to let her go during class.  When I do let her go, she will kick her little legs as fast as she can to the top, but doesn’t quite have the strength to keep her head above water…at least not yet.  She continues to amaze me and I tell Jeff that I think a "little fear" would be nice sometimes!  :)   She is really a go-getter at gymnastics class and she insists on doing everything herself including the balance beam, bars, trampoline, and anything new that coach Mia will let her try.  Mia has been my friend since junior high and is a great gymnast herself so I let them go at it. I have to keep reminding daddy that Mia says it is confidence building when we find Sarah Jo climbing and jumping off anything and everything at home.  We have been working on potty training and she is doing great so far.  We got the pooping down, but the pee pee is going to take a little longer I think.  Of course when she is with Aunt Le Le, poop and pee pee are no problem whatsoever!

Jeff and I are doing well!  Jeff is super busy at work with a lot of travel coming up in the next few months.  I’ve laid down the law that there is no travel in May for him, I will have to hide the suitcase! :)  I have been really busy trying to fix up the other bedroom for our new baby girl.  We just got paint this weekend and we found some beautiful material so mom is going to make curtains, a blanket, an album, etc. for the new arrival.  I’m finally feeling a little more organized and hope to have a lot of stuff in place by the end of this month so that I’m not trying to do it all when I’m closer to my due date.  I did have a labor scare about a week ago, but we went to the midwife and everything checked out fine.  I think it was probably just due to lots of lifting of little Sarah Jo and getting rundown from all of our activities.  Sarah Jo and I also had the flu at the beginning of February which put us both in bed for a week, so probably just too much too soon after that.  Sarah Jo likes to talk about her baby sister and I know that she has no concept of what life will be like in May, but Jeff and I know she will be a great big sister!

That is about it from here, we hope that you are all doing well and surviving winter.  It has definitely been a strange one weather wise and I’m sure all of us are looking forward to spring.  Take care and drop us a line when you get a chance!

Love~
