30 Weeks

By Michelle | March 24, 2007

Our last midwife appointment was eventful.  We found that this little girl is still breech and lying contently on my left side.  Since I delivered Sarah Jo at about 37 1/2 weeks, they would like to see this little one turn by our 32 week the first week of April.  We also did the standard diabetes test and found out the next day that my numbers were high.  They like to see your levels under 130 and my results were 150.  We had to schedule a 12 hour fasting 3 hour long test this past Monday.  Nana B was able to watch Sarah Jo and Jeff went with me to the hospital to keep me company during the test.  It was not that fun since you can’t eat and have to drink a very sugary solution within 10 minutes and then get your blood drawn every hour.  I was able to keep the sugary solution down and Jeff and I just chilled out.  I’m very glad that Jeff was there since I feel asleep during the last hour while watching the Price Is Right.  He woke me up just in time to get my blood drawn.  Who knows how long I would have slept if he wasn’t there with me…heehee.  Luckily the next day, we found out that my numbers were normal and all the bloodwork came back fine…YEAH!!  The midwife suggested that I could do handstands in the pool or use an ironing board against the couch and lay with my head down and my feet in the air to try to get this little one to turn.  I told Jeff that we might go to extreme measures in April, but right now I just think that she is taking her own sweet time (maybe a little more of her daddy’s personality??)  :)
Nana B and Sarah Jo have been working hard on the nursery.  Earlier this week, they painted the toy chest purple to give the room a little more color.  Boy did Sarah Jo have a good time.  She did pretty well, but we decided to just strip her down to her diaper instead of getting purple paint all over her clothes.  We have a last few finishing touches and then the room will be all ready for Sarah Jo’s baby sister’s arrival.  If you haven’t figured it out, we still do not have any names figured out.  Thanks to the aunties, Sarah Jo likes to call her baby sister, Kitty Kujath.  Hopefully that won’t stick…heehee!
Jeff is traveling a bunch in the next month, 3 major trips, so we will probably be hanging out at Nana and Papa’s a bunch.  It will be nice to get his traveling completed and have him home in the month of May so that we can get ready for "our summer vacation".  I’m not sure that I’m mentally prepared, in fact I think Jeff is more ready than me for our new arrival, but I’m getting very anxious to see what this little girl looks like.  She is a lot less active in the womb than Sarah Jo was, so we will have to wait and see if that plays out in different personalities for these little girls.
Sarah Jo is all ready for Easter and had a good time helping me decorate the house and hang Easter Eggs on the trees out front, so that the Easter Bunny can find our house on Easter morning.  We will definitely take lots of pictures and make sure we update the website the next few weeks.  In the meantime, enjoy the Spring weather.  I’m ready for some sun, I’ve had enough Seattle rain for awhile.  Hopefully that will translate to a very nice summer.
