Where did 3 weeks go!?!?!
By Michelle | June 24, 2007
How could our Samantha Jane possibly be 3 weeks old already? I just want time to stand still, although I know that this year is going to fly by faster than any year before. It is not fair!! I never really understood when people told me that with your second child it is a totally different experience, but I think I’m starting to understand what they meant. I vowed that I would stay in bed for 2 weeks after Samantha Jane was born…that lasted about 2 days. After I was discharged from the hospital, I was up and running…you have to be….Sarah Jo had no interest in just hanging out at home and watching chick flick movies. Sarah Jo also encountered a flu bug the week after Samantha Jane was born and by the end of the week, I was not sure who was going to run away from home first, Jeff or I, it was definitely a toss up!!
I am trying to enjoy each and every minute with Samantha Jane, but I just do not have the time to sit and stare at her for hours like I did with Sarah Jo. Samantha Jane is much more content than Sarah Jo ever was as a baby…as Jeff puts it…she cooked longer inside so she is a little more done.
Samantha Jane and her daddy are pretty tight already! They will just sit for hours and cuddle while I’m running trying to get a few things done…which basically consists of feeding, changing, and trying to run interference with Sarah Jo. I love the fact that they are bonding though, what a huge gift to have daddy home for the summer!! Potty training has basically come to a halt at the moment, everyone was FRUSTRATED and so Jeff and I decided to just let it go for a few weeks until my mom gets back from Kansas to see if Sarah Jo is interested at that time. I know that it definitely has to do with ‘baby sister" because I’ve had to hoist Sarah Jo up on Samantha Jane’s changing table and change her diaper there the last few days. It has to be hard to for Sarah Jo to share our attention and Jeff and I are really trying hard to understand what that might feel like, but remember we are both the babies of the family.
I really want to try and keep the blog up-to-date, but days turn into nights and nights into days so fast! It is my summer goal, so we will see how I do. I don’t even want to think about Jeff going back to work at the end of the summer, but like he reminded me, take each day as it comes and try to enjoy every minute. We are very blessed to even have him here for 12 weeks, so I cannot complain at all.
Until next time (which will hopefully be only a few days…)
