New Surgery Date

By Michelle | September 8, 2008

Last Tuesday, the orthopedic surgeon’s office called and asked me to call them right away. Come to find out, our insurance will no longer be covering part of the surgery that I need to have on my hip as of November 1st. My surgery date was originally scheduled for Dec. 5th. The scheduler told me that the only date that was left was Monday, Oct. 13th. Also, I’m not supposed to lift the girls for 6 weeks…that will be interesting, but I’m confident all will work out like it is supposed to and I will bounce back quick! I was really worried that since the insurance company is now deeming this procedure to be “experimental” what would happen if years down the road I would have to have more work done on this hip. The scheduler assured me today that if the insurance covers the procedure, they cannot deem it as a preexisting condition down the road. We don’t have a choice, we need to get it done on October 13th, because the doctor said if I don’t I will eventually need a hip replacement which is not the road to take since I’m so young. He said that “fake hips” don’t last very long and I would need more than one in my lifetime…no thank you!

I’m actually looking forward to getting it done and feeling better by Christmas. Hopefully we can put up a Christmas tree this year (last year I was recovering from my thyroid surgery)….oh yeah…we have an 18 month old…but that’s what the play yard is for…to keep her outta the tree. I told Jeff that I will be a brand new woman by 36! Watch out world, here I come!! :)
