WHEW!!
By Michelle | December 13, 2008
Both of the girls are not feeling 100% right now. It has been an extremely busy few days and I’m glad that we had nothing at all planned for this weekend because darn I’m tired! Last weekend was perfect with our trip on the “Santa Train”, the little train ride at Redmond Town Center, and a trip to Molbaks to check out all the indoor Christmas decorations. This past week brought swimming lessons (2 for Samantha), two church services, the baking & frosting of 8 dozen cookies for the Faith Lutheran Christmas Concert which took place last night (we hope to post pictures and video on the website soon…so cute…I was tearing up…I’m going to be a wreck when they graduate!!), and professional pictures with Santa Claus after the concert at Crossroads Mall. Of course last night it was POURING down rain, which was supposed to be snow…but it never ever happens that way…the only time we get any snow is when they do not forecast it. I knew that since they were going on and on about it, we would not get anything significant. We did get a few flakes around 4pm and Sarah Jo went screaming through the house, waking daddy up (and probably the neighbors as well), but the flakes are long gone with no snow on the ground. We are still holding out hope!!
The upcoming week will bring the last week of school and work before 16 days of Xmas vacation…boy am I looking forward to that!! I hope to take the girls to daddy’s office next Friday afternoon so that we can eat dinner downtown and check out the Christmas lights at Westlake Center. Saturday my sis and I hope to do a little scrapbooking and then take the entire family to check out Snowflake Lane in Bellevue (where snow falls from downtown buildings every night at 7pm…very cool!).
Samantha Jane has her 18 month check up on Dec. 22nd, as well as Sheridan’s yearly checkup. I’m sure it will be an exciting day! Sheridan is doing OK, but it is really hard to 15 in doggie years. She seems to be getting along better than a few weeks ago when she got into some Christmas chocolate and I thought for sure she was going to go to heaven with a full belly and no regrets. But like the determined Jack Russell Terrier that she is, she fought back and is doing much better now.
Well the agenda for this evening is snickerdoodle cookies (daddy felt left out that I didn’t bake him cookies last week) and putting together the gingerbread house. It should be exciting and messy!
Fingers still crossed for a big snow blast!

Are you that attached to cement???????
By Michelle | December 4, 2008
Yep, you read that right, how can the “guys in our neighborhood” who are pulling new cable for Verizon (some fancy new fiber that is going to make our internet wicked fast and that Jeff is SUPER excited about) be that attached to the new sidewalk cement that they poured today.
Now you know that I’ve changed because I would have never, ever in a million years, snuck my kids out in the freezing cold to put their handprints in the fresh cement 3 times, a few years ago. That’s right…3 darn times…and those “guys in our neighborhood” came back and flattened it out EVERY SINGLE TIME!! My neighbor saw me peering around our fence with each of the girls, stick their tiny little hands in the wet cement, and quickly vanish back into the house. She then watched as the workers came back and flattened out our masterpiece, not once, not twice, but three times!!! I think she definitely got a kick out of watching us “break the law” and I can’t imagine how silly we looked, but hey, I wanted those handprints in the sidewalk in front of our house…how cool would that be…I mean really…forever set in stone!!!!!
But NOOOOO, don’t mind that you marked up our yards with flags, almost ran into us with big trucks speeding through the neighborhood numerous times, or made us late because you totally blocked us from backing out of our driveway. Don’t worry about that…heck worry about the precious cement and make sure you come back at least 10 times to check it and stay way past dark to make sure it dries before any cute, tiny little handprints could go back in. Then just to be safe, make sure you cover it with plastic and two large boards so that NOTHING can mess up your cement work of art. You would think that they were guarding a Picasso painting for goodness sake!! While you are at it, make sure you leave all of your work trucks parked around the neighborhood all night long, because that is just what we want to look at out of our bedroom windows while we are trying to watch the pink sunset.
Come on guys, just two tiny little handprints to remind us of “when they were that little…” that’s all we were trying to accomplish today!

Happy Thanksgiving….I’m thankful for:
By Michelle | November 26, 2008
That’s easy…that we made it through the health scares of 2008 and that this Thanksgiving will not be overshadowed by the "what ifs??"! We’ve learned a lot this year…good lessons at a pretty young age…lessons that are impactful and have changed how we live our lives. We are so very, very blessed and each day is a gift, which is really a cool new outlook on life!
Happy Turkey Day!

One year anniversary of diagnosis….
By Michelle | November 17, 2008
I just had to take a minute out of the day to shout hooray and to say thanks for all the prayers over the past year! I am so so so very lucky to have the family and friends that I do and even more lucky to have such a great team of doctors who I believe have cured my cancer! That is what I hold dear to my heart when my head hits the pillow every night and I believe that the scans in the spring/summer will come back completely clear. Please hold that prayer in your heart for me as well….because every little prayer counts!
So girlfriends my advice for the day, make sure you take time for yourself, don’t blow off your annual physical because you just don’t have time to get there because you have babies at home…no excuse! I’m convinced that the annual physical that my mom made me keep last year, saved my life!
I also wanted to give a shout out to Uncle Jimmy who came to help us with the girls for two weeks after my hip surgery. He did great, the girls adored him, and we can’t thank him enough. My hip is OK, healing a lot slower than I thought it would, but we go back to the surgeon on Wednesday to get the scoop. I’m off crutches and the cane, mostly because we don’t have any extra hands this week, but the girls and I will survive. That’s what pain pills are for…heehee!
Thanks also to our Kansas clan for welcoming us with open arms. We had a wonderful visit and we miss everyone already. Remember, Seattle is just an airplane ride away!
Our friends from Texas are coming in next week to celebrate turkey day with us, we can’t wait!!!!!
Oh yeah, one more thing…daddy’s outdoor Christmas scene is better than ever this year and thanks to Uncle Sam’s help daddy wasn’t out there until 9pm this year. Can’t wait to turn the lights on…we got a sneak peak last night and it looks great. I’m ready to leave the power button on, maybe he will be on board by this weekend as well!

Handicap parking and motorized shopping carts
By Michelle | October 27, 2008
Yep, not something I thought I would be blogging about at this stage in my life, but there it is. Last week after my doctor appointment, my mom and uncle took me to the DMV to get my first and hopefully last handicap parking permit for 3 months. Now don’t get me wrong, the entire family seems to be enjoying the handicap parking plaque and we will all be enjoying it more during the holiday shopping season (the permit is good through January) and I do enjoy not having to crutch across the parking lot so all around it is a really good thing…just weird I guess.
Now on to the motorized shopping carts. I’ve used 3 so far, two different ones at Target and one at Costco. By far, the last one that I used at Target was the best. It was a newer one and was pretty smooth! I’m sure I might have additional reports on the motorized shopping carts around town. Jeff and I were totally cracking up when we were at Target by ourselves last week because of course I ran in to several things, luckily not any people. Really at this point, all you can do is laugh…it definitely makes me feel better!!
